We recently started receiving a lot of questions about when tickets for this year's Destination D would go on sale and when the date for the 2019 D23 Expo would be announced. While we don't have answers to either of those questions, we did want to share some fun information with you that may give you an idea as to how D23 announces these events and their ticket and schedule releases.
Below you will find the event dates and location for all of the D23 Expos held in the U.S. and Japan as well as information on previous Destination D events. We also provided information like when tickets went on sale and when the full schedule was released if we could find confirmed information on those details from quality sources/sites.
D23 Expo – United States
All US D23 Expo’s have been held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California
September 10–13, 2009
- "On March 10, 2009, Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger introduced D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and the then-upcoming D23 Expo 2009 in grand style on ABC’s hit daytime talk show The View.”

- The 2011 Expo dates were announced on March 10, 2010.
- That year's annual shareholders meeting was March 8, 2010.
- Tickets went on sale August 19, 2010.
- For the 2011 Expo, pricing was announced on Aug 18, 2010 and tickets went on sale on August 19, 2010. That means pricing was announced 1 day before tickets went on sale.
- The full Expo schedule was released on August 12, 2011.
- On August 19, 2011 Saturday only tickets sold out
August 9-11, 2013
- The 2013 Expo dates were announced on Mar 9, 2012.
- That year's annual shareholders meeting was March 13, 2012.
- Tickets went on sale August 9, 2012.
- For the 2013 Expo, pricing was announced on July 26, 2012 and tickets went on sale on August 9, 2012. That means pricing was announced 14 days before tickets went on sale.
- The full Expo schedule was released on July 30, 2013.
- On August 8, 2013 Saturday only tickets sold out.
August 14–16, 2015
- The 2015 Expo dates were announced on March 18 2014 at The Walt Disney Company's Annual Meeting.
- Tickets went on sale August 14, 2014.
- For the 2015 Expo, pricing was announced on August 6, 2014 and tickets went on sale on August 14, 2014. That means pricing was announced 8 days before tickets went on sale.
- The full Expo schedule was released on July 21, 2015.
- 2015 D23 Expo tickets started mailing in mid-July 2015. Tickets are mailed in waves.

July 14-16, 2017

- For the 2017 Expo, pricing was announced on July 6, 2016 and tickets went on sale July 14, 2016. That means pricing was announced 8 days before tickets went on sale.
- 2017 D23 Expo tickets started mailing in mid-June 2017. Tickets are mailed in waves.
- The full Expo schedule was released on July 11, 2017.
- On May 5, 2017 Saturday only tickets sold out.

2019 D23 Expo -

Destination D Event Information
Destination D events have gone from being a yearly event with a “floating” location to an every other year event that is held on even numbered years at Walt Disney World.
September 24-25, 2010

May 14-15, 2011
- Was held at the Contemporary Resort in the Fantasia Ballroom in Orlando, Florida.

November 22 – 23, 2014

November 19- 20, 2016

- Tickets went on sale April 21, 2016.

November 16-18, 2018

All D23 Expo Japan Expos have been held at the Tokyo Disney Resort.
October 12–14, 2013
