D23 Announces Their 2018 D23 Gold and Gold Family Gift

For those unfamiliar with how the yearly D23 Membership gift works, when you initially buy or renew your D23 Gold and/or Gold Family Membership, you receive a special member gift that is only available for that calendar year. In the past D23 members have received calendars, pens etc. as their yearly D23 Member gift. But, over the last few years D23 has gone to replicating historical Disney items and papers, which in my opinion gives members a deeper connection to the history of the Disney company while fostering member interest in learning about more about the history of the movies and character they love.
Today D23 announced that the 2018 D23 Membership gift will follow their recent membership gift trend with a set of historical replicas that will "chronicle the career of everyone’s favorite mouse, from Steamboat Willie to Shanghai Disneyland." The 2018 D23 Member gift will be a Mickey Mouse themed set that comes with twenty-three Mickey Mouse inspired Disney Archives reproductions. Members can follow Mickey from his black and white cel days to his colorful adventures in Fantasia, to his time on the Disney Channel and even his adventures to the Tokyo and Shanghai Disneyland parks. The reproductions will ship in a keepsake display box. Members will receive their gift shortly after they originally join or renew their D23 Gold or Gold Family Membership during the 2018 calendar year.
The box, which comes just in time for Mickey's 90th Birthday, will come with the following Mickey inspired reproductions:

1 - Steamboat Willie Original Script Pages (1928)
2 - Mickey Mouse Comic Strip Fan Card (1931)
3 - Miniature Cel from Parade of the Award Nominees (1932)
4 - Mickey and Minnie Doll—McCall Printed Pattern No. 91 (1932)
5 - Hyperion Studio “Ickymay Ousmay” Crest (ca. 1933)
6 - Carl Laemmle Scrapbook Page Art (ca. 1935)
7 - Walt Disney Productions Logo (1940s)
8 - The Nifty Nineties Animation Drawing (1941)
9 - Aircraft Worker Insignia Sticker (ca. 1942)
10 - “Walt Disney and Staff” Christmas Card (1947)
11 - Television Prop “Book” (1954) and Portrait Enclosure (1953)
12 - Television Commercial Model Sheet (1954)
13- The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Record Cover (Disneyland Records, ca. 1957)
14 - “Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club” Mouseketeers Fan Card (1957)
15 - Walt Disney World Mickey Mouse Revue Attraction Poster (1971)
16 - Disneyland Backstage Cast Magazine—Commemorative Issue (Summer 1978)
17 - “Happy Birthday, Mickey” Button (1978)
18 - “We Are Doing It” WED/MAPO Poster (ca. 1981)
19 - “Oh, What a Merry Christmas Day” Vocal Lead Sheet (1982)
20 - Tron Film Print (Hidden Mickey) (1982)
21 - Tokyo Disneyland Souvenir Gift Bag (1983)

Tips For Cosplayer by Rachael K

By Rachael K
Three more days and counting! I figured there are a lot of first time cosplayers out there going to the D23 Expo so I decided to think of a cosplayers guide on what to bring to D23. I've been to many conventions and my first convention, I learned the hard way and was bleeding all over my Elsa shoes and almost fainted in my corset (not fun) so here's some tips that I have learned over the years! Any other cosplayer feel free to add to the list in the comments =]
  1. BRING BANDAIDS!!!! Make sure your shoes have comfy in soles and that you have broken them in first! I made that mistake. Also bring socks just in case for heels. If you have a big dress, no one will know.
  2. Bring breakfast bars or granola. Sometimes you lose track of time because people are asking your photo and you're having so much fun and whoops it's 2 pm and I haven't eaten anything and I'm in a corset! Make sure you hydrate as well especially in costume.
  3. Deodorant and perfume are your best friend. No matter what time of year for cosplaying, you'll be sweating. Unless your Maui and shirtless, bring deodorant so you don't feel gross
  4. Cosplay cards to hand out to photographers are always handy for you and the photographer. If you don't have time, just print out on regular paper your page info for Facebook or Instagram etc.
  5. This is probably the hardest rule but, it is OK say no to photos. I always said yes until I was literally sleeping at Con and this person seriously woke me up from a nap to ask for my photo or while I was stuffing my face with food. Just remember to be polite and tell them I'm sorry. If it's a little child though, I usually say yes. You decide what helps you and remember, you need to rest too. Nobody wants a hangry princess.
  6. Practice poses beforehand. Find what pose works for you and what is a quick pose in case you're in a rush and someone asks for a photo.
  7. Finish spray your makeup and use setting powder. Especially, if you're painting your whole face. Trust me it goes a long way.
  8. Make sure you bring a repair kit just in case like Velcro, needle and thread and safety pins. Bobby pins too for your wigs.
I think that's it! Have fun! That's why you're there! Remember you look awesome and tell yourself in the mirror that you are beautiful!
